about bad luck
i launched my clothing brand BAD LUCK on april 22, 2021. i combined my interests in punk fashion, secondhand clothing, and sustainability into the brand.
i design and create every piece by hand, in addition to all other business administration tasks. i use multiple mediums to create pieces for the brand. my earliest products feature my designs machine embroidered onto blank t-shirts. i began to screen-print clothing and patches in late 2021. from there, i have experimented with other techniques like using heat transfer paper and patchworking. i have taught myself everything i know about fashion design and am always looking for new techniques to use in my work.
keeping BAD LUCK eco-conscious is one of my top priorities. each drop is either made in batches or made with secondhand materials sourced locally to reduce clothing waste. any blanks that are bought in batches are 100% cotton or made with recycled materials. our packaging is all recyclable and our mailers are made with recycled materials. although no business can be truly sustainable, these are ways i try to reduce our environmental impact.
i have vended at numerous events across southern california over the past four years. vending has allowed me to interact with potential customers and grow my customer base. i also love being surrounded by fellow small business owners and supporting their businesses.
in april 2023 and 2025, i celebrated BAD LUCK's two and four year anniversaries by hosting a show at a local venue with a lineup of four to five bands. by organizing these events, i have learned about event management and expanded my negotiation and problem solving skills. i have also learned how to better manage my time while trying to plan an show, design and make a new drop, and market the two all in a few months.
